For more than 33 years the ministry of Good News Media Incorporated has been working to share the truth of the Gospel throughout northewest Michigan. Here are a few highlights, and milestones, that only through the leading of God we were able to accomplish.

1981 – GNMI Established – January 26th

1982 – AM 1400 Signs On – December 23rd

1989 – FM 89.9 Signs On 10,000 Watts – October 1st

1990 – Property Purchase – Morgan Hill

1993 – New Tower Replacement/Relocation

1994 – Application for 104.5 FM Filed with the FCC

1994 – His Kids Radio Sideband Ministry Started

1995 – The Adult Contemporary Sideband Ministry Started

1998 – Building Purchase – Cass Street – Fall

1999 – Move to Cass Street Ministry Center – April

2001 – Power Increase – 12,500 to 39,000 watts

2001 – WLJN First Web Site Is Launched

2002 – WLJN Celebrates 20th Anniversary

2002 – NMJM joins partnership with GNMI

2004 – Cadillac station WKJF Acquisition – March 5th

2004 – Cadillac station WLJW signed on – March 15th

2005 – WLJN recognized by Focus on the Family as Medium Market Station of the Year – February at NRB

2005 – His Kids Training Studio starts training students – Fall

2006 – January marked 25th Anniversary of GNMI

2007- WLJN starts broadcasting St. Francis Gladiator football carrying on a 45 year tradition for the community

2007 – WLJN AM 1400 Celebrates 25th Anniversary – December 23rd

2008 – Launch of new interactive website/audio streaming of FM format

2010 – Launch streaming of WLJN AM 1400 and WLJW AM 1370 all talk format

2010 – FCC auction for 104.5 FM – 3-6,000 watt signal – lost auction bid…God has other plans

2012 – March 27 FCC Auction for 95.9 FM – 25,000 watt signal – Provisional Winners April 5 – $109,000 – raised and
paid cash – April 20th – $110,000 was raised. Funds Transferred to FCC, May 25 – Application was filed,
including down grade for WHNN. Mid July FCC corrected its data base to show WHNN had already been downgraded
– CP was granted for our signal at 50 KW on April 25th.

2012 – WLJN AM 1400 Celebrates 30th Anniversary – December 23rd

2012 – FCC authorizes WLJN 89.9FM to increase power to 100 KW directional w/ V&H polarization

2013 – August WLJN FM receives FCC approved to operate at a full 100,000 watts
-
2013 – December 19th one day Capitol Fundraising day to remaining $34,000 needed, $15,000 was raised
-
2014 – February – projected sign-on timeline for the new 50,000 watt “FUEL FM” 95.9
